Recognise your Club Hero

Apr 19, 2023 | Hub

Community clubs are essential in bringing people together and providing a space for social interaction and recreational activities. However, it’s really the dedicated volunteers and innovative initiatives make these clubs stand out and truly make a difference in the communities. That is why the annual CCV Awards are so important, to recognise and celebrate community clubs that give back to the community.

One of the winners of last year’s awards was Peter Stephenson, who won the Community Club Volunteer of the Year award for his outstanding dedication at Lakeside Club Sale. Peter’s recognition by his fellow club members and patrons is a testament to the invaluable role that volunteers play in the success of any community club. Their tireless efforts often go unnoticed, but their contributions are valuable and appreciated by everyone in the community.

Another winner was the Altona Sports Club, which won the Best Environmental Sustainability Project award. The club’s latest initiative of installing a 99.9-Kilowatt Solar Panel System is a testament to their commitment to the environment and their responsibility to reduce their carbon footprint.

Since its installation, the system has saved 9317.08 Kilograms in Carbon Emissions, equivalent to planting 31 trees. The $$ savings for Altona Sports Club due to this initiative are also significant, amounting to $5000 to $6000 per month.

This initiative has not only been a win for the environment and cost savings but has also improved the standing and reputation of Altona Sports Club in their local community. Members are delighted with the initiative and take pride in the club’s environmental responsibility. The club is now seen as a leader in tackling climate change and has become an example for other clubs in the industry.

The CCV Awards provide a platform to recognise and acknowledge the clubs making a difference in their communities. It is heartening to see individuals like Peter Stephenson and clubs like Altona Sports Club, who are willing to give their time, skills, and efforts to ensure the success of their club and the betterment of their community. They are an inspiration to others and a testament to the power of community spirit.

The CCV Awards recognise the importance of these volunteers and the innovative initiatives that make a difference in their communities. So, take advantage of the opportunity to nominate your club for the CCV Awards and recognise the individuals and initiatives making a difference.
