CCV member, Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club (KLTC) has for the first time since 2021, once again hosted the prestigious Kooyong Classic.

From 2023, the famous event is now known as the Care A2+ Kooyong Classic after event organisers sealed a five-year title sponsorship deal with Care A2+, a leading Australian health and wellness company.

Founded in 1988, the Kooyong Classic is firmly established as the premier lead up event for the Grand Slam of the Asia/Pacific, the Australian Open. As part of the Summer of Tennis in Melbourne, each year the world’s top players grace Kooyong’s historic centre court, maintaining a long and distinguished tradition as the ‘spiritual home of tennis’.

But how in this era of hospitality staff shortages, could KLTC find enough staff to cover the various bars, lunches and activation areas?

“It was tough” says KLTC CEO, Chris Brown, “but we were greatly assisted by some really supportive managers in the club sector, who were able to lend us some staff for a couple of days at a quieter trading time for their clubs”. What a great example of clubs helping each other.
