Board Skills Assessment Matrix
In response to feedback from Clubs concerning Committee and Board governance CCV has developed a new Board Skills Matrix Template and guide to assist Clubs develop a skills matrix. This guide can be utilized as a tool to assist with the induction of new Committee / Board members joining your Club and also as part of your Club’s annual business planning and risk management ‘due diligence’ strategy.
The skills Matrix acknowledges that your Club’s Board is made up of individuals that will bring a range of differing skills and experience to the collective group. The matrix steps through key skills, including:
- Governance skills.
- Industry specific skills.
- Personal attributes considered desirable to be an effective Director.
We recognize that the skills and experience acquired by Board members evolves over time. To that end, a positive and pro-active approach is to undertake an assessment of the Board’s skills, knowledge and experience and develop a plan to address any skills gap, in conjunction with your business planning.
It is important to note that these documents are a ‘living’ and ‘evolving’ representation of your Board’s skills and not something that is set in stone.
